Ocean Embrace: Jônatas Chimen and Maria Cosatto present the crossing of the Atlantic as a metaphor for transition and transformation. Their collaborative work unfolds as an imaginary journey through space and time — a voyage nourished by horizons and silent anticipation, by raised pedestrian crossings that provoke reflection, by a palette of ocean blues, and by mirror effects that reveal hidden facets. Following the oceanic crossing comes the evocation of a journey against the current, through the fresh waters of two immense rivers: the Paraná and the Amazon. A return to the source. A journey also nourished by promises, uncertainty, and hope, by welcome and loss — a plunge into the unknown, into the uncharted waters of fate, both source of life and threat, a threshold between two worlds. The abandonment of old habits, the encounter with new lands: a mysterious Locus Amoenus emerges, rich in sensuality and possibility. Through an exploration of perceptions and emotions, the artists invite the public to engage with the installation. This site-specific installation offers a virtual portal linking Paris with the cities and countries of Chimen's and Cosatto's Diasporas. In 2025, for the 12th Latin American Week of Paris, artists from Brazil and Argentina were chosen to show their short films via QR codes distributed throughout this installation, which was installed at the Maison of the Amerique Latine et Caraibe and at On-Off Gallery (both in Paris), and was sponsored the Ministry of France and Foreign Affairs.
