Art. Apo+theosis is a live performance by artist Jônatas and Destiny Everett, which explores the transformative power of art as a path to spiritual awakening. Through movement, ritual, and visual symbolism, the performance reflects on art’s ability to guide us from fragmentation to wholeness. Drawing from Joseph Campbell’s concept of the monomyth—the universal hero’s journey—Jônatas reimagines the artist as both seeker and guide. The piece invites the audience to witness a symbolic passage through exile, struggle, and revelation, ultimately suggesting that creativity itself can be a form of transcendence. With each act, Art. Apo+theosis becomes less a performance and more a shared rite—a meditation on how art can help us return home to ourselves.
